The opening of the Terengganu State Water Sports Complex (KOMSAT) marks a significant milestone in advancing water sports development in the East Coast, while expanding opportunities for community participation in aquatic sports and recreational activities.
Strategically located at Pulau Duyong, just minutes from Kuala Terengganu city, the RM10 million facility is poised to become a premier venue not only for water sports but also for a wide range of events and programs.
The inaugural event hosted at the complex was the Fiesta Rakan Muda Terengganu 2026, a three-day carnival featuring 29 activities across 10 lifestyle segments, officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari.

“This facility is not exclusive to any particular group. It should be shared and utilized by the local community for both sports and recreation. With these amenities, stakeholders in water sports can strengthen grassroots development programs and provide newcomers with the confidence to explore the sport,” said Dr. Taufiq during the launch.
The initiative was welcomed by Terengganu Youth and Sports Department Director Asmadi Mohamad, who emphasized the complex’s role in supporting Rakan Muda programs that align with national youth development goals.
“Through Fiesta Rakan Muda, we can see that this complex is more than just a sports venue. It is a platform for diverse programs that add value to youth development. We encourage organizations to consider this complex as their venue of choice,” he said.
Beyond its jetty facilities, KOMSAT is equipped with a hangar for sports equipment storage, meeting rooms, and other supporting infrastructure, positioning it as a versatile venue for competitions, training, and community events.
