KUALA TERENGGANU – The Terengganu STEM Festival 2026 has given young visitors an opportunity to see how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) extend beyond the classroom and are applied in real-world industries.
The three-day festival, which concluded on Sunday, brought together industry players and the community, offering students and families greater exposure to technologies, career pathways and skills linked to STEM.
Among the industry participants was Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), which showcased technologies and expertise from the oil and gas sector while providing visitors with a glimpse into the practical application of STEM in the workplace.
The festival was organised by the Terengganu Science and Creativity Centre (PSKT), which continues to provide a platform for industry players to share their knowledge, technology and experience with the public, particularly students.
PSKT chief executive officer Mohd Huzairil Nizam Ibrahim said industry participation was crucial in helping young people understand the wider opportunities available through STEM education.
“Collaboration with industry players is important as it opens the door for the younger generation to explore opportunities, particularly in shaping their future careers. At the same time, the industry also sees this new generation as potential future talent capable of meeting the high standards required in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he said.
PETRONAS, which has been a strategic partner of PSKT since 2023, went beyond its role as an exhibitor by bringing its knowledge and technology in the oil and gas sector closer to visitors.
The engagement provided an opportunity for participants to better understand how STEM concepts are translated into practical applications in an industrial environment.
Held from Aug 28 to 30, the festival featured more than 10 activities, including the Luminite Walk fun run, Terengganu Push Bike Cup and a robotics competition, attracting families and young participants of various ages.
