KUALA TERENGGANU – More than 150 family members of personnel from the Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Station gathered to enliven the annual ‘Iftar Kasih Keluarga Bomba’ programme held at the station’s compound in conjunction with this year’s Ramadan.
The programme, held in a simple yet meaningful setting, provided an opportunity for family members to experience the atmosphere of breaking fast at a fire station that remains on 24-hour standby to respond to any emergency.

Adding to the uniqueness of the event, the iftar gathering was held without the use of tables or chairs, with all attendees enjoying the meal in a relaxed manner while seated on mats spread across the station compound.
The food for the breaking of fast was prepared through a gotong-royong effort by firefighters on duty at the station, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere while strengthening the bond between firefighters and their family members.
The programme began with the recitation of tahlil and a prayer before firefighters and their families waited together for the time to break fast.
Chief of the Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Station, Senior Fire Superintendent II Thoyyibah Taib, said the programme successfully brought together more than 150 family members of the station’s personnel, including children and elderly family members.

“Alhamdulillah, we were able to gather more than 150 family members of our personnel to break fast together at the station.
“Besides young children, some also brought along grandparents of their children. Although the programme was held in a simple manner, it carries great meaning as it helps strengthen the sense of family among our personnel,” she said.
Meanwhile, a firefighter officer from Dungun, Anis Fadila Zakaria, said such an opportunity is rare and becomes a cherished memory for her family.
“Programmes like this allow family members to better understand the responsibilities of firefighters who are always ready to serve at any time,” she said.
The Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Station, led by Senior Fire Superintendent II Thoyyibah Taib, currently has a strength of 78 personnel comprising several special units, including the Water Rescue Team (PPDA).
