The Luminite Walk, a fun run themed \u201cGlow in the Dark\u201d, attracted 1,538 participants and was held at the Terengganu Science and Creativity Centre in Kuala Terengganu on August 28, 2026.<\/i><\/b><\/center><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

KUALA TERENGGANU \u2013 A night run with a twist lit up the Festival Sains, Teknologi, Inovasi dan Matematik Terengganu (STEMT 2026) when the 2.8-kilometre \u201cGlow in the Dark\u201d fun run drew 1,538 participants, adding a vibrant edge to the three-day science education carnival at the Pusat Sains & Kreativiti Terengganu<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fun run proved popular with families, with parents and guardians joining their children for the evening activity during the school holiday break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 46-year-old Nik Azuraida Nik Jusoh, who took part with her children, the event offered a chance to spend time together while experiencing something different from the usual daytime activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The excitement is definitely there, especially as this was a new experience for our family to take part in a run at night. Programmes like this should be continued in future editions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Distance and medals were not the reason we came. It was more about having the opportunity to spend time together as a family in a safe environment,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, private sector employee Tengku Aminuddin Tengku Sulong, who works in the capital, joined the run with friends while taking advantage of the school holiday to return to his hometown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I happened to be back home for the holidays and found out about the programme, so I came along with some friends. I was quite excited because I did not expect to find an event like this being organised away from the city,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSKT chief executive officer Mohd Huzairil Nizam Ibrahim said the encouraging response showed that activities held in a relaxed setting could help bring STEM education closer to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Although the run was only a small-scale side activity of STEMT 2026, the positive feedback, particularly from parents and guardians who came with their children, has been encouraging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are open to organising a better event in the next edition. It can also add value to our efforts to bridge the gap in science education,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEMT 2026, held from Aug 28 to 30, featured various activities centred on science, technology, innovation and mathematics, with participation from relevant industry players.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
